Lombardi attended Fordham University where he played and began his coaching career as a student assistant from 2009 to 2010, earning his bachelor's degree in communications in 2011. He entered the NFL that same year as a scouting assistant with the New England Patriots, where he was part of the organization that reached Super Bowl XLVI.
