Bio
Jacopo Spano (born 2006) is a Ligurian filmmaker whose artistic research is rooted in early experimentation, moving from childhood stop motion to the role of assistant director at the age of 13. After moving to Rome in 2024 to complete his studies and immerse himself in the Roman film scene, he made four short films presented in prestigious contexts such as RIFF and Cinema Troisi. His professional experience ranges from international collaborations with Lionsgate, Avventurosa, Kavac Film and Amazon Prime. Recognized for his directorial talent, he won the awards for Best Director and Best Short Film at the AS Film Festival in 2025, as well as the Pigneto Film Festival Award obtained during his residency at the Pianeta Mare Film Festival in 2026. His cinema is characterized by an "arid" and provincial aesthetic linked to its origins, formally influenced by Vertov's Soviet cinema and the Nouvelle Vague, with the constant aim of deconstructing traditional cinematic grammar to transform everyday situations into a sincere fiction.
