Former tram driver Havlík discovers that his new acquaintance Chouň does not have an apartment and offers him that he can temporarily live with him. The latter happily accepts the offer and soon changes Havlík's proper and honorable life as a widower. The old conductor realizes that he can also live differently: cheerfully and carefree. The idyll is ruined when Chouň robs Havlík...
